Road trip tips: 1) take plenty of water! You never know what might happen!
2) take plenty of snacks/food. Why, look at number 1 ☝🏾
3) make sure your devices are charged up. Why, look at number 1 ☝🏾
4) if you prefer proper accommodation, pre book, some places can be booked out in peek seasons.
5) have a good playlist. Radio National is good, but sometimes times you want to do Careoke. Mine was Glee soundtrack (Don't judge) and random selections of rock, ABBA and soft rock. Podcasts are good too...
5a) pick and choose the times to listen to true crime podcasts. Don't listen to them when you're parked in a truck pay with one other car and every subsequent sound wakes you up!
6) don't "wing it" when it comes to fuel. It's not fun praying for 20kms hoping that you don't run out of fuel. When you see a servo, fuel up!
7) and this is an important one; enjoy the trip! Take photos, enjoy the landscape, take your time and enjoy it!. Warmun Community Welcomes you sign.
8) Sorry, going to add, take a first aid kit! Vitally important, even if you don't use it. I cut 2 fingers, and needed a first aid kit..(Not this trip!)
9) If you travel with a dog, take 2 chairs! As you can see, she wasn't going to move! (Not this trip)
10) if you travel remote roads, eg: Gibb River Road or Tanami - tell someone where you're going and ETA. Or take a satellite phone. You can share your location on Google maps..I did that with my friend and she was able to track my location..
11) make sure you have a vehicle that is suited to the environment. Your Commodore or Falcon won't survive the Gibb River Road.
12) this tip is an important one. Always take your rubbish with you. I saw tons of rubbish along the road, I saw graffiti on rocks, names carved into boabs and trees. Respect country, don't plaster your name everywhere and take your rubbish with you!
