Had some white voters not been comfortable voting for someone with a documented history of sexism, sexual harassment, racism, xenophobia, a checkered financial history and no government or foreign policy experience to speak of we wouldn’t be here.
I question anyone using Obama turnout numbers without recognizing the historical anomaly of his campaigns. Even he and his team weren't able to replicate those numbers for midterm elections.
I was once in the camp of looking down upon folks who don't vote however doing both political and social justice work simultaneously gives you a different perspective.
Potential voters we label as "low propensity" or "unmotivated" don't see an actual impact on their lives and their communities with a vote. So to them it doesn't matter if the person in office is democrat or republican.
It is up to the campaigns and the candidates to demonstrate to voters how electing them will change their current circumstances and then they have to actually keep their promises.
It is a mistake to place blame on voters for not turning out and shaming voters is certainly not a smart campaign strategy.
Anyway, this gives me a perfect title for @SundayCivics, "The Voter Blame Game". Tune in at 10AM this Sunday on @SXMUrbanView ch 126 for more
