Poets + poetry readers:

What would you call a poem that’s driven less by narrative than by a series of vivid scenes/images?

Think Richard Blanco’s (@rblancopoet) “One Today,” Gabrielle Calvocoressi’s (@rocketfantastic) “Praise House: The New Economy” or like any Tom Waits song
@rblancopoet @rocketfantastic A tone poem? Something else?

I’m deeply grateful I never studied poetry in high school or college (would have ruined it for me) but I think I’m missing some standard vocabulary:-)

Anyways, here is the start of Blanco’s “One Today.” The rest is here: poets.org/poem/one-today
@rblancopoet @rocketfantastic Here is the start of Calvocoressi’s “Praise House: The New Economy.” The rest is here: aprweb.org/poems/praise-h…
@rblancopoet @rocketfantastic (pssst keep it secret but I like Praise House more than One Today)
@rblancopoet @rocketfantastic Oh and how can I forget the brutal end of Tom Waits’ “Tom Traubert’s Blues.” Aaaah so good
