I tripped over this this morning working on something else and was riveted. Scott Walker appearing on the Dusty Springfield Show in 1968. Holy mackerel.
And you know I couldn't resist. Walker's truly unnerving song "Jesse" where Elvis has a nightmare of watching the Twin Towers fall on 9/11, and is so upset he talks to his dead twin Jesse about it. B/c Elvis did talk to Jesse his whole life.
Like ... excuse me?
I wrote a post about "Jesse" that reached 10,000 words (hello, 2012 manic episode) - the post is actually pretty slamming - all things considered, if I do say so myself - but I took it down thinking I might want to ...yeah, fix it up a bit. Because that song inspired a whirlwind.
Once upon a time, before he shuffled off his mortal coil way too damn early, Lester Bangs had an idea for a book where he got famous people to tell him their fantasies about Elvis. I so wonder what he would have made of "Jesse."
