The story is very long, but basically I was subjected to an additional performance review at DIT in Reading and micro-monitoring after I asked a question about whether we would have the legal standing to conduct "transition reviews". Then I was dismissed.
I had also filed a bullying grievance. I was told I hadn't been bullied while simultaneously being dismissed.
Via a Subject Access Request I received over 1,000 pages of managers' discussions about me. They wanted me to admit that I have autism (I don't).
My line manager wrote that he had eavesdropped on my conversation with the CEO, Claire Bassett, about my concerns about Labour anti-Semitism. (I am Jewish.) He said I made Claire feel uncomfortable.
I was given a reward by DIT in London for my work screening entries for the UK Investment Support Directory. This didn't help me keep my job. I was fired two days before the end of my nine-month probation period.
I had been told that my nine-month probation period would be extended because I looked something up on my computer during a team meeting. I was looking up information about British Steel, which was being discussed.
For nine months dozens of investigators like myself at trade remedies were not allowed to make phone calls to the outside world.
All we could do was hold hundreds of meetings with each other. And get judged on what we said in the meetings, by people who themselves had little or no prior experience in trade.
I told managers that the attacks on me were driving me to the brink of a nervous breakdown. They even came to my house claiming to be worried about me and tried to put me on compulsory sick leave. But they only stepped up the torture.
I had been at Reading for longer than most: I was with the first group of 10 investigators to arrive for six weeks of hugely expensive training from Deloitte on October 1, 2018. They wasted all the money spent training and employing me, turning me into a new trade expert.
They mainly preferred graduates, who kept their heads down.
