Truepill cofounder @sidviswanathan spent over a year needfinding for his next startup before he met his cofounder who knew all about the brokeness of pharmacy.

Sid just asked questions until he built enough product for it to be useful!

My full interview:
Behind the scenes: I did it all myself. It took about 30 minutes on site with Sid including b-roll and portrait session with both cofounders.

Shot on a Sony A7 mirrorless camera at 1080p for simplicity, edited on Lumafusion on an iPad Pro in about 3 hours.
Notes for next time:

Gonna shoot CINE4 picture profile or maybe SLOG2 for better color.

Will use manual mode to set ISO shutter and aperture instead.

Need more setup footage with better intro and b-roll. I will work on my YouTube voice :-)

Central banks have removed price discovery from the credit markets, meaning risk does not have an accurate pricing mechanism. Passive investing has removed price discovery from the equity markets. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
The simple theses and the models that get people into sectors, factors, indexes, or ETFs and mutual funds mimicking those strategies -- these do not require the security-level analysis that is required for true price discovery.
This is very much like the bubble in synthetic asset-backed CDOs before the Financial Crisis in that price-setting in that market was not done by fundamental security-level analysis, but by massive capital flows based on Nobel-approved models of risk that proved to be untrue.

Some people would argue venture investing is like alchemy, and value investing is like gold mining.

One is ethereal magic, and another is as real as could be.
Yet startups are businesses like any other.

The mechanics of finding opportunities are the same: moving dirt, rock, rubble to find gold.

The difference is that we are mining in places where they didn’t think to mine— new islands and continents recently discovered.
We’re also trying to find and fund them when it’s one or two people with a shovel in a field, and the first nugget hasn’t been dug out of the ground yet.

It looks like alchemy, but it’s still gold mining. That’s why value and venture investing aren’t that different after all.

Most startup founders end up spending their entire careers trying to catch lightning in a bottle even once. I caught it once and lost it myself. It’s hard to hold— so much can go wrong.

When you catch lightning in a bottle, you have to do everything in your power to harness it.
Founders who catch lightning in a bottle find themselves in this common situation: if they sell the company now, they’ll just have to start it again, and it’s that much harder to catch lightning again.

This is the advantage of repeat founders: they know the pain of regret.
This is also why so founders (particularly well-pedigreed serial entrepreneurs) fast-follow. UberX was a fast follow on Lyft.

It is easier to steal lightning than discover it in the wild.

Listening to these DNC Media cool clique kids chatter amongst themselves, it's presented as 'strange' that names like 'Glenn Simpson', 'Fusion GPS' or "Joseph Mifsud" were being thrown around by GOP lawmakers at these hearings yesterday.
**IF** were getting all your 'news' from these people for the past 2 1/2 years, then HELL YES it would seem mighty peculiar that R Congressmen keep weirdly throwing these names out there.

Up until now, due to the media's constantly feeding the public Fake News for 2+ years about the Trump/Russia Collusion Hoax™, Trump has essentially been governing with one arm tied behind his back.

That other arm is now free.
Especially on immigration Trump is now fighting for a sane immigration/border policy with both hands instead of just one.

This is why he's suddenly talking about closing the southern border along with withdrawing aid from countries that won't stop sending caravans.

The Edmonton Police Service is one of the most racist and unaccountable institutions in Edmonton.

Any person with power who uncritically supports them is a coward who is not interested in justice but maintaining their abuse.
In 2017 I asked the Deputy Police Chief if they disproportionately card Black people. I asked because numbers from out east showed a disparity.

The Deputy Chief told me 'no.' And that I should trust police and that more needs to be done but they don't have the cash.
When I was younger I believed that the police had problems but that work could be done to fix this. In fact, I even wanted to be a cop!

This feeling slowly faded away after I saw how little they cared about improving the community.
