Hello from Canada @OxleasNHS! I recently found out that your org is responsible for delivering healthcare at @hmpbelmarsh in London. I am *gravely* concerned about the mental health status of Mr. Julian Assange who is in the healthcare wing and a victim of UK gov't torture.
I am not being hyperbolic or conflating my concern. The @UN Rapporteur on Torture @nilsmelzer conducted a formal visit with Mr. Assange in May 2019 along with 2 medical professionals. His conclusions are alarming. Please contact @nilsmelzer on an urgent basis. Thank you. ~jude

I am not a lawyer. I am a human rights defender, so pls take my next thoughts in that context. If Assange dies in your care within @hmpbelmarsh, his family, estate, @wikileaks and legal team may launch a lawsuit. It's a tough situation for you. I understand that. Respectfully ~j
The pressure of the US gov't to torture Mr. Assange is exponential and extends into pressuring your gov't to implement UK torture on its behalf. @CIA head is Gina Haspel who was involved in overseas torture and murder, Torture Report etc. Assange is in grave danger at Belmarsh
Gina Haspel of the @CIA has various nicknames even from former CIA employees: "Bloody Gina" etc. She is a known sadist. Assange's life, health and well-being are monitored by US authorities to maximize harm upon him. Pls do your best to mitigate this torture. Thank you

I have heard that Julian Assange is emaciated, isolated, not allowed to mingle with other inmates or workers passing by his single cell in the health wing, unable to work on defending himself legally and is in extremely rough shape. Please help.
I understand that the Prison warden / governor would want to punish other inmates for taking a video of Mr. Assange which was later posted online... but it is exacerbating the psychological torture and physical challenges he faces daily. He should not be punished for the video.
I am very grateful that someone took that video. As a member of the public, I am very angry at the British gov't that he is shut away in your prison to begin with. I am even more angry that he is hidden away in some corner of that foreboding, loud, overcrowded, decaying building.

According to the @UN note on principle of non-refoulement, "The absence of formal recognition as a refugee does not preclude that the person concerned possesses refugee status and is therefore protected by the principle of non-refoulement." FreeAssange
Therefore, it does not matter whether or not the UK recognizes Assange as a refugee as Ecuador did for approx. 6 yrs. ASSANGE IS A REFUGEE who requires safe passage to a safe country where his life, liberty, right to due process and no torture are respected.

It is no surprise that after subjecting Julian Assange to 9 mo.s of isolation, on the Eve of his 8th yr of Arbitrary Detention (@UN decision), Ecuador's president Moreno makes a new bid to expel him from asylum into the clutches of the US. (Thread)
Just as Eric Holder offered assurances to Russia regarding Snowden that he would not face the death penalty or torture, Ecuador's president is conflating the UK's assurances that it won't extradite Assange if he risks death penalty.
It amounts to an effort to eliminate the grounds upon which Assange's asylum was granted and should continue; Assange has feared extradition to the US b/c the US tortures, drugs inmates/suspects, lacks due process and he would lose his life to the meat grinder of US injustice.

Hence causing the formation of unwholesome mental &emotional systems as well as physical effects.
Effects may include
physical marks, or in some cases physical disabilities/health issues.. hi asthma/anxiety.., internalized limiting beliefs.. usually firmly germinating under the radar of the concious mind in its subsconscious part.., & a skewed sense of self worth.

#Healthcare is a fundamental human right. In 2018, our legislature helped to ensure that right by expanding Medicaid. As of today, nearly 250K Virginians have enrolled in the program and now have access to quality healthcare.
This is what happens when we elect Democrats who are tenacious and unwilling to accept the status quo. But we still have work to do. We still have an opioid epidemic that is devastating communities and major improvements that need to be made to our mental health care system.
Last week, I was happy to visit one of our local facilities and have a great discussion with physicians and staff about these issues; we even tackled the benefits of community health.

I drafted the letter after it became clear that plans for the next 5 years of the institute excluded any plans for an Africa or global health programme, despite some great ideas being put forward for genomics research in Africa....2/N
My concern was that the person making this decision (the head of dept) was conflicted, and I and another senior faculty member had implicated him directly in our whistleblowing complaint which pertained to exploitation of intellectual property of our global partners .. 3/N
