My Local Govt, Biase LGA, has been receiving between 140 & 170 million naira monthly allocation from the federal govt for months since the federal started paying LG allocations directly to their account, yet no single Biasean has been able to ask what the money is being used for.

We have currently have Head of Local Government Administrators (HOLGAs) across the 18 LGAs in Cross River state, as the govt has deliberately refused to conduct local government elections for nearly a decade now.

We also have House Assembly Member, House of Reps member, Deputy Gov, the Governor himself, plus other appointees representing the good people of Biase, yet we never call them out and demand account of their mandates and stewardship; how they've been using our common resources.

All we are able and free to do on daily basis is abuse and point accusing fingers at President Buhari far away in Abuja, even on issues and challenges that should have been handled and sorted by ordinary local government councilors, or at most escalated to local govt chairmen.

The way we think & behave baffles me. I keep asking, is it that we always forget that each and everyone of us in Nigeria has or is entitled to a councilor, a chairman, a HoA member, a Rep, a commissioner, a Governor, a senator, and a minister and middle men, before the president?

Did we forget that the essence of creating all these tiers, positions and offices is to decentralise government and its processes, just so that we are all directly connected and positively affected by government?

It may interest u to know dat many Nigerians dont know dia LG Chairmen, HoA member, Reps, Senators; some dont even know the name of their gov & LGA they hail from, but we all know as much as the colour of the ram Buhari killed to celebrate d last sallah far away in his home town

While I welcome constructive criticism as an integral part of democracy, which also goes further to strengthen leadership and governance, I wish to appeal to Nigerians to look inward and go down to their various wards, LGAs, states and begin to demand from their governors,...

...senators, chairmen and everyone else who's been mandated to represent their interests and receive funds from government on our behalf.

While u are busy attacking President Buhari, your Governors, Reps and Senator are busy 'worshipping' him, and doing everything possible to ensure they remain in his good books, just so they continue to access him and gain more, while you're busy wasting your energy and time.

In fact, our Senators, Reps, HoA members, chairmen and other representatives of ours are super excited that we remember them only during elections and campaigns, but keep our focus, demands and expectations fully on the president - year in year out.

They're happy we care less about how much they receive on our behalf, from federal govt, how they allocate, share and spend our common resources.

This is why about 90% of them are not on social media, or have official telephone lines or constituency offices or any viable platform where we can interface with them regularly.

It's time for us to open our eyes and begin to ask pertinent questions. It's your right to know how much your governors, reps, chairmen and other reps receive and how they spend them.

They want us to continue to focus our energy on President Buhari, while they silently enjoy our billions with their friends and immediate family.

Have you ever bothered to ask them to give account of their stewardship? I am sure the answer is capital NO!
