Dear sweet baby jesus let this be true.
For all you "but what about North Carolina" folks I understand you're sore but special elections don't predict voter turnout in the generals very well. They didn't in 2017 either. We lost FOUR special elections to Republicans and then swept the generals.

A 25% percent voter turnout isn't awesome, but it's historically in line with turnout for special elections.
Should we do better? Of course.

Am I prepared to hang my head in shame and say because we didn't win NC yesterday we can't ever win an election and it's hopeless?

This #SundayMorning we're looking at a subpoena from House Intel chair Adam Schiff. He alleges a whistleblower complaint is being withheld from Congress by the Director of Intelligence in order to protect the President.

What is going on here?

As she suggests, details & timing of this subpoena indicates it has everything to do with a recent investigation into efforts by Trump and Guilliani to pressure Ukraine into providing kompromat on Joe Biden
(3) Schiff became aware of the whistleblower complaint from the inspector general of intelligence after launching the September 9th investigation into the White House efforts in Ukraine.
The inspector general deemed the complaint credible.

In my work as a sexual assault crisis counselor & in covering the #MeToo movement as a journalist, victims say the same thing over and over again.

Don’t bother going to the police. Don’t include that detail in your story. No one will believe it happened.
No one will believe me.
Victims have learned they have to be litigators & present only the things they can prove. Only the parts of their story the public will find palatable.

They inspect every angle. Turn their own assaults inside out, looking for the angle the police will take to undermine them.
Why don’t victims report? They do. Over and over and over.

To teachers. Friends. Parents. They reach out.

And every person who responds with incredulity drives a nail into the coffin of silence that eventually buries survivors.

Why don’t they come forward sooner?

Take it from someone who nearly bled to death internally in 2010.

Ectopic pregnancies aren’t pregnancies. They’re life threatening medical conditions. Women will die.
This is what an ectopic pregnancy looks like. How do I know? Cause this is mine.

It literally looks like a tumor or clump of cells because as it attempts to grow in a confined space like a fallopian tube it becomes stunted, deformed, and non viable.
For the woman who go through this, it’s a tragedy further complicated by the fact that your organs are being ruptured and you’re bleeding to death slowly.

Ever walked around with a belly full of blood? It feels like being socked in the stomach with a bowling ball at every step.
