Because of outcry from immigrants’ rights groups like @amornetwork and from us, the Wyatt’s board is rushing to sell it to a corporation.

“private corporations sustain themselves by making sure the beds are filled. If the beds are not filled, how far are they going to go?”

Corporations complicit in ICE are profiting off of fear, profiting off of cruelty, profiting off of dehumanization.
The Wyatt’s board is meeting TOMORROW EVENING, likely to redouble on their work with ICE.

They rescheduled their meeting to when the Jewish community celebrates Shabbat, but they don’t realize we were taught to pray with our feet.

UPDATE: Wyatt scheduled their meeting for 6pm last Friday, and, singing Shabbat prayers, we cancelled their meeting.

The board is meeting tonight and we are back, once again, to pray with our feet.

Some of those customers are identified in the August 08 Vice story written by @kimzetter. Ideally, EOs in those jurisdictions are aware of those risks and have implemented the sufficient security controls to address the risks in this design. /2

As reported here by @steveannear, there were TWO GoFundMes raising money for this. A larger one (50k+) was started by Cait Clement, who GoFundMe has been unable to reach.

In any case, I want to donate enough to pay off Warwick's lunch debt and donate the rest to @NoKidHungry.
So, thank you ALL for your spectacular help in spreading the word. I'm profoundly touched by everyone's response to this thread and generosity in donating.

My heart breaks that GoFundMe is seen as a substitute for a compassionate government.
