This is truly chilling.

Calgary-based @FBBtweets is not only advocating for conversion therapy (a form of physiological abuse) but is using it to fundraise money.

This is one of the most sophisticated attacks on conversion therapy bans in Canada. ⤵️

1. Did you know that Jesus has a special place in His heart for those who’ve been spiritually abused? It’s all over New Testament. Consider all the souls oppressed by people w/ religious power, think of Jesus’ reaction to them & defense of the abused...
2. “The Widow’s Mite” is often used as an example of faithful giving, such a horrible interpretation of the text. Widows were most impoverished cuz women couldn’t own property. Right after talking abt folks who abuse religious power; he sees woman forced to give rather than eat.
3. Mark 12 then shares Jesus’ reaction. After seeing what spiritual abuse looks like, forcing this women to give the little she has to religious authority and go die of starvation somewhere; Jesus responds by prophesying the destruction of the entire system of religious power.

So, I apologize but this is gonna be like, babby's first trans rights thread, but I keep forgetting that my followers, who are all good and smart and above all, extremely attractive, are only a sadly small portion of the overall population.
So, the other day, @thehill published an opinion piece by Kristen Waggoner, of the Alliance Defending Freedom, a far-right anti-LGBT hate group, arguing that the Equality Act, by protecting trans people (trans women in particular), we would 'turn back the clock' on women's rights
@thehill She starts with this, arguing that wearing dresses or adopting 'stereotypes' doesn't make one a woman. Of course, no one is arguing that it is. Wait, I shouldn't say 'of course'. People genuinely believe that this is what trans advocates want. It is not.

1. So, today in things that aren't broke but right wingers want to "fix" them are access to legal and medical policies as part of gender transitions. Exhibit A is Jamie Shupe, writing for the Heritage Foundation's propaganda arm, The Daily Signal.
2. Shupe transitioned after inadequate access to mental health care, then detransitioned prior to any surgeries. He cites Blanchard, Dreger, and Bailey to argue that no one should be allowed to transition, and instead should all receive some sort of undefined conversion therapy.
3. This is a perfect example of using a single anecdote, out of context, to argue for bad policy that would end up harming far more people than it helps. It's also zero surprise that what Shupe says matches perfectly with Ryan Anderson's religious dogma and talking points.
