I have Jeff muted. Mostly because of stuff like this. But it helps to examine the intersections of privilege that make him this ignorant. The person Jeff is describing is himself. That's who he pictures when he reads about those trying to unionize right now.
He is correct that people like him don't need it. His fallacy is when his class privilege intersects with his racial and gender privilege. Jeff still assumes the majority of programmers are in his socio-economic class. But it's only white guys who end up thinking that.
People who are not white guys know better. Because even if we ourselves have achieved some amount of success, we know way more people who have not. It's privilege that gives people that illusion.
