Regarding Felicity Huffman's sentence. There are so many racist disparities in sentencing that it's pretty easy to want her to be sentenced longer. I want Crystal Mason, Tanya McDowell and the thousands of over-incarcerated people to have shorter sentences. Shorter sentences!!!
Over-incarceration is, in part, the result of us being outraged and pushing for longer sentences or more sentencing guidelines. Even though sentencing mandates have gotten us people going to prison for life for shoplifting and has Americans spending more on prison than education
Sure enough, people have replied to the Huffman sentence with a call for sentencing guidelines. We need to get rid of them, not add more because guidelines are used by prosecutors to pile on years to pressure for guilty pleas.

I think Biden and Sanders suffer from the same problem. They grew up believing that Black people would be fine if they were only more like white people. They believed the Moynihan myth that poverty was a result of Black family structure.

This was liberal gospel.
So...even though the purpose was improving the quality of life of Black people, it was all predicated on the presumption that Black culture was pathologically inferior. This is also the background to "respectability politics" from some Black leaders.

I am never shocked to discover some lefty is a racist, so why am I surprised when I discover some lefty is a TERF?
Just to be clear, I am a lefty, an economic progressive who wants universal health care, debt-free higher education, progressive taxation, a strong safety net...But more than that I want anti-racist and feminist policy-making that remediates historic oppression.

I mean, one person who really needs to answer for his history is Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders needs to answer for his votes against the Brady Bill, against immigration reform, in favor of gun manufacturer immunity, and in favor of the Minutemen border vigilantes.
Bernie needs to his personal history of avoiding responsibility, not paying child support, using unemployment to finance his activism, and of not voting.

In defense of the @SecretService. Here's my post a week after the election. The Trump family was living on 5th Ave. I was a NYC line hotel manager. That location is not nearly secure enough for a POTUSE. I was not a Trump fan. More of a NYC/Secret Service fan. He had to go.
One week later Trump went to Mar-a-Lago. This incident notwithstanding, IMO Mar-a-Lago is much more secure. Imagine all the people coming into Trump Tower & the need to block much of 5th Ave. Mar-a-Lago is a better place. Camp David is the best get-a-way but not Trump's style.
On the recent incident, I read the Secret Service rendition of the unauthorized person entering the perimeter. Hidden within the report for me is evidence that they never took their eyes off of that women. The lack of security observed by @POTUS using unsecured phones

Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy's bribe to the guy who fixed their daughter's SAT scores was disguised as a charitable donation for "educational programs [for] disadvantaged youth." Charming.
Huffman and Macy also seem to have abused the disability accommodations provisions of the SAT to facilitate their cheating—getting their daughter extra time on the test, and using that as a pretext to put in place the crooked proctor who fixed the test scores.
From the fake fdn's GuideStar page: "With programs that are designed to assist young people in every day situations, and educational situations, we hope to open new avenues of educational access to students that would normally have no access to these programs."

Well, yeah.
