Biden says the 1963 bombing blew open the door to the Civil Rights Act, and showed this in his generation that “working on the fringes of this movement was not enough.”
“Hate is on the rise again and we are at a defining moment in American history again,” Biden says. “Hate only hides, it doesn’t go away.”
"Those of us who are white try, but we can never fully understand" the struggle, Biden says. "We have to work to bring this country together. This is the work demanded for the rebirth and renewal" of America
Biden: "My prayer to all of us this morning is that at this moment when this nation must decide again who we are what we stand for that we’ll remember the strength of this community."
