In effort to tie GOP to John Calhoun, 1619 Project ignores modern-day Democratic obstruction. Anybody remember Democratic judicial filibusters of GWBush years? Harry Reid? And if subject is nullification, sanctuary jurisdictions? Obstruction is a two-way street. 2/5
Plus: If issue is obstructing majorities, why stop at plantation elite in search for antecedents? Why not go farther back? Rome? Obstruction is a feature of human beings and politics. But NYT 1619 Project seeks to tie GOP to slavery. Political advantages are obvious. 3/5

Some brief thoughts on the president's tweets about ''Progressive' Democrat Congresswomen,' presumably Reps. Omar, Ocasio-Cortez, Pressley, and Tlaib. They were bad for two reasons... 1/5
The first is the substance. Not just because they were technically wrong, since three of the four were born in the US. The tweets were wrong because they sent a xenophobic, discouraging message to immigrants who come to the US legally. 2/5
If the US has admitted them, especially from terrible countries, the president should want them to become Americans and live safe, prosperous, and productive lives. Trump's tweets said just the opposite. 3/5

Bill Barr, in his continuing degradation of the integrity and independence of the DOJ, is bestowing one of its top awards to the lawyers who worked on Kavanaugh's confirmation.

Perhaps he should give it to the @FBI agents who buried Brett's investigation.
"Ramirez’s legal team gave the @FBI a list of at least 25 individuals who may have had corroborating evidence.

But the bureau interviewed none of them, though we learned many of these potential witnesses tried in vain to reach the FBI on their own."

There's a long line outside & many fierce advocates reminding the witnesses and senators that there are still HUNDREDS of children -- who were ripped from their parents arms at the border under Trump's family separation policy -- who still haven't been reunited with their parents
These children include a 2 year old who is in government custody who is deteriorating quickly and indications that the child can no longer recognize the mother's voice. #FamiliesBelongTogether

1) First the obvious. Dr. Christine Ford has 3rd party documentation dating from 2012. It doesn’t name Kavanaugh, but it names the circumstances. She’s got the receipts, baby!
2) Second, she has already taken a polygraph test. Has #Kavanaugh taken a polygraph test? No. And considering the number of times he has already been found to lie under oath, he probably should have!
