NEW: OCCRP has long reported on South Africa’s notorious Gupta family, which, along with its associates, is believed to have stolen up to hundreds of millions of dollars from the state in what is known as the “state capture scandal.” (1/5)

When South Africa's high court ordered Trillian, an investment firm at the center of the Guptas’ web, to return $41 million that was found to have been unlawfully taken from the state electricity company, it emerged that the money was no longer in the firm’s accounts. (3/5)
Now, having exclusively obtained access to more than three million documents from a Trillian server, OCCRP has been able to piece together how some of the Guptas’ millions were hidden over a period of three years through a network of shell companies and consulting firms. (4/5)
