i had other shit to do today but the hiwaymen are here standing around the jackson statue 🙄 
a charlottesville police officer is having a friendly chat with the visiting racists.
the officer told me the department isn’t really clear on the new ordinance regarding protest permits. they’re trying to get ahold of the city attorney’s office to determine if this constitutes an unpermitted demonstration that should result in civil penalties.
as much as i’d prefer that they leave, i’m very much not in favor of an interpretation of that ordinance that would require six people standing around to get a permit from the city.
looks like our little crew of flag draped racists is heading from the jackson statue over to the lee statue. that’s unfortunate because while this park is pretty empty, market square park is a popular spot for unhoused folks.
if anyone’s still confused about whether or not the straight pride thing was a thin cover for violent bigotry...

now they’re denying heather heyer was murdered when she was intentionally struck a car? this is going well.
racists really should stop trying to come to charlottesville to make a scene. their little spontaneous demonstration was outnumbered by community members within twenty minutes.
they said they were going to lunch, but it seems like their ride is delayed. they’re just hanging out in a parking lot near the courthouse that’s being renovated.
one of them is telling us none of them are racist, in fact many of his friends are black and claims to his own color is “part red” 🙄🙄 and something unintelligible about an attraction to black women?
oh he says dylann roof was “a complete little jackass” who “should he dead” and he really ruined this for them. damn, a real shame someone took your ideology to its natural conclusion! really ruined racism for ya!
the racists have officially left for lunch. maybe they’ll be back today. maybe they won’t. they seemed pretty nervous about the strength & speed of our community response.
(that’s “should be” not “should he,” it gets hard to type when my phone overheats!)
it’s hard to tell what exactly they want to get out of coming here. a lot of these groups obviously want to provoke confrontation, either between us and them or us and the cops protecting them. but despite knowing full well we’ll show up, they seemed unhappy that we did.
