Just completed the main story of #Borderlands3. Without spoiling anything, I thought it was pretty decent. If you liked BL2, you should play BL3.

I played it in splitscreen co-op on PS4; which was a frustrating experience. Maybe they will improve that with subsequent updates
The fundamental story from start to finish overall is pretty good. The obvious concern is: can the Calypso twins live up to Handsome Jack, as villains? The answer to that is yes, they’re wonderfully frustrating and truly hateable, and they make also sense as characters
I played as Amara (😍) while my wife played as Zane, and both are pretty interesting, likeable characters. Amara can be a bit one-dimensional but she is so precious and badass that I have to love her anyway. It’s a very good dimension 😂
The frustrating-ness of the splitscreen co-op definitely contaminated my experience - as I watch videos of other people playing, the world looks so much more lush & beautiful than I was able to appreciate. The music is good, even great at parts - but I think not as great as BL2?
Watching a review while writing this and I agree with the reviewer:

- the gunplay/weapon mechanics feel great, big improvement over BL2

- the missions don’t feel very well designed (I mostly just played the main story), and the bit-by-bit writing can fall quite flat sometimes
the user interface is really frustrating. It doesn’t break the game, but it slows you down needlessly. The maps are extremely confusing when handling vertical layers, and the inventory management system could be so, so much better.

skill trees do seem amazing though
You know what’s sad though, I can’t in good conscience say, “BL3 is fucking amazing and everybody should go play it.” I think God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn are the last 2 games that I might shill that hard. Mass Effect 2. I’m curious to truly understand + reverse-engineer why
While I have minor complaints about nitty gritty things, I firmly believe that most people will forgive all sorts of bumps on a rocky journey if the journey is fantastic. And I think the BL3 journey (w/o going too deep into side-missions) was alright, but not *great*
Here’s an annoying detail in #Borderlands3 UI: is the “slot machine effect” really necessary? When you’re trying to process dozens of weapons, every second counts. @GearboxOfficial please turn this off
