Someone made the mistake of allowing me to talk to ROTC cadets tomorrow

So if you run into gin-obsessed cat-loving historically-minded officers in the future

Yeah, they're probably my fault
There is something so cool about working with cadets. So much future. So many leaders that will have such an impact on the Army, on lives, on history.

I can see why those of you who work with cadets like it so much.
Oh, and I got to teach them "Free Trade and Sailor's Rights," so @McCainJack should be pleased

One of the things I like to get across when I teach people about ARNG history is mobilization timelines of volunteer/National Guard units over time and the impact it had on their readiness

RevWar is a simple one. Flash to bang for the initial mobilizations of New England militia companies was literally hours to a day or so. But that's just raw manpower, some training, efficiency drops as time goes on.

Still, remarkable readiness levels in MA militia companies
War of 1812 is hit or miss, since militia was in disarray. Took over a year to get an operational force in the field that could conduct offensive ops, and another year before it was effective. Based a lot on the populace being split on support for the war

Just 4 or 5 years ago, this wouldn't be possible. There're a lot of great voices tweeting under their own names now who didn't feel comfortable back then and had pseudos. The climate is changing

It's awesome this can happen

I don't think the stigma is gone tho
That said, events like this go a long way in reducing the likelihood that careers will suffer from voicing independent thoughts. Props to @LadyLovesTaft for being the voice for the junior leaders. And to @PatDonahoeArmy for listening.

Got a teeth cleaning today and my gums are sore. Apparently, my gums hurt because I don't floss enough.

Seems odd to me that if I flossed, someone sticking a metal pick into my gums repeatedly wouldn't hurt

People are telling me to listen to the dentist but seriously you want me to take the advice of someone whose job used to just be the side gig of the village blacksmith?

2nd place: 192.168.0.0/16. the choice of home users and other Default Accepters. unforgettable. but the IT manager at your bad small business set up the office as 192.168.100.0/24 back in 03 and now you keep running out of IPs since everyone's phone is on the wifi
3rd place: 172.16.0.0/12. wait what is that address??? is that a loopback? oh wait it says 172 not 127. And what the hell is a /12??? range is 172.16 through 172.31. Lmao okay. The voip installers set the phones up that way and nobody knows how to change it.

Hey, remember 3 months ago when I was griping about my energy company? I've got some updates, buckle up.
To recap: someone made a mistake on reading the meter ID, and it resulted in my power getting cut off, and the customer service wouldn't answer my emergency calls because it was in my parents' name and I didn't have their PIN number.
Still recapping: three days after getting power restored, I got hit with a $350 "early termination" charge because they treated the fix as terminating the old account and starting a new one.
