2d Cir. largely rejects NYTimes' attempt to FOIA memos related to the Obama admin's investigation of CIA detainee abuse.

NYTimes had argued that these memos weren't protected attorney work product bc AG Holder publicly referred to them. Nope. ca2.uscourts.gov/decisions/isys…
The only portion of the memos that the court will allow to be FOIAed are those related to AG Holder's public statement that some of the detainees were never in CIA custody at all.

Those statements were "sufficiently specific."
NYTimes had hoped to get the portions of the memos relating to the legal standard and the decision by DOJ not to prosecute anyone for the alleged CIA abuses.
