Thank you @folanski for taking out time to join us today.
@folanski As we all know, a high percentage of students who get denied when they apply to schools is due to research proposals / personal statements that have failed to catch the attention of faculty.

@folanski with his knowledge and background will help to throw more lights today.
@folanski So, to start with, @folanski what should and should not be contained in a personal statement? What extent of my personal details should I provide in my personal statement?

@folanski Question 2:

@folanski with thousands of students applying each year, how do I get the attention of the admissions committee in my personal statement? Hence, how can I stand out and be impressive through my personal statement?

@folanski Question 3:

You know some of us can write epistles. So, how long should a personal statement be really? Should I be worried about information overload when writing one? What is an ideal length if there is any?

@folanski Question 4:

When writing a research proposal, is it advisable that I choose a general topic which everyone is quite familiar with or something quite different? Will the uniqueness of the research topic increase my chances of getting approved?

@folanski Question 5:

Here's our next question @folanski:

How should I structure my research proposal when I want to write one? Should it include a section on methodology and a list of references?

@folanski Question 6:

Thanks Fola. So, asides from Title, Background and Rationale, Research Questions, Research Methodology, Plan of Work and Time Schedule and Bibliography, anything else that should be particularly included?

@folanski And for the final question of today's tweet chat.

@folanski, it can be frustrating waiting for a response. Is there a general wait period for after I submit a research proposal or does each school have diff wait period? Is it advisable to follow up if I do not hear from school?
@folanski Thanks everyone for joining in, and thanks to @folanski for taking out time to drop these invaluable info.
