CBS published a Monmouth poll on Aug 22 that found 41% of Americans supported an impeachment inquiry (72% Ds, 39% Inds, 8% Rs). monmouth.edu/polling-instit…

With the caveat that I’m comparing different pollsters here, the indication that all the different partisan groups have moved more or less in lockstep toward supporting the impeachment process (Ds +15%, Inds +10%, Rs +15%) seems more significant than the play it’s getting.

The new Q poll, which shows a +20% move on the ultimate question of impeachment and removal, asks a question for the first time about approval of the inquiry. It found even higher D and I approval for the inquiry than CBS/YouGov did, but lower R approval. poll.qu.edu/national/relea…

It’s certainly true that NYT detected and reported Giuliani’s involvement in Ukraine last May, but retconning the angle of those stories and outright denying they led with *and independently vouched for* Rudy’s now-debunked theory of the case isn’t going to fly.
That said, even if the main angle they chose didn’t deliver, it is extremely important reporting that eventually informed the whistleblower’s complaint and NYT deserves credit for it—especially this story. nytimes.com/2019/05/09/us/…
Even ten days ago, Ken Vogel was still saying that the “story here” was about a campaign liability for Biden, and the way Rudy was inserting himself into it was simply “not helpful.”

I guess I’d start the discussion by congratulating that fellow for getting his methodologically strange experiment published in the NYT without having to explain why the confidence interval for his key result with independents is blown out to 12 percentage points.
The experimental design is to take a couple groups of voters, make one group read a “news snippet” composited by the investigator of Dem primary candidate positions he apparently considers most objectionable, and then ask who they’re going to vote for.
The result is that independents forced to focus on one party’s primary, as summarized by a hostile observer, in an environment where the other party apparently isn’t described either don’t love it or get wise to what they’re supposed to say to the tune of 0-12%.

1. Trump retweets an egg account that has posted three tweets in its entire existence to date.
2. An obscure bot account that mocks Trump’s purported shark hatred scoops up that tweet and modifies it w some sharky stuff.
3. Trump, still working his search, RTs the parody tweet.

1) Regarding the Warrening, the MSM attempt at falsifying a Biden fall (though he is gaffing it up hard) to boost Warren's campaign, I want to bring out the RCP average and point out the 6 polls from 6 different firms covering around the same time period. realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_…
2) If you look, the Monmouth Poll is a CLEAR outlier. Economist/YouGov's always had him low for their past several polls, but its been a steady 3-4 point lead, and even after Monmouth's poll that holds steady, indicating that whatever their methodology support hasn't changed.
3) In fact, the past 6 polls have Biden averaging 30.5% support, while Warren's averaged only 16.3% support. That's effectively a 14 point average lead in these polls. For whatever reason, the ONLY poll that consistently showed Warren close to Mon's results was Economist/Yougovs.

1) Some positive news for @realDonaldTrump in new Monmouth University poll:

PDJT approval rating numbers heading in the right direction for him - up to 42% (from a low of 32% last month). Best mark since March 2017.
2) Better news for @realDonaldTrump: 55%, say PDJT has been successful in getting Congress to pass his legislative agenda (up from 42% last month).

71% say PDJT’s agenda so far has focused on issues important to average Americans at least a little — that’s up from 63% in July.
3) Tax bill approval rating improving, too: 44% approve, 44% disapprove in new poll, HUGE improvement from December when it was 26% approve, 47% disapprove.
