PLAY BALL!

Michael Kortan, the FBI's top press official during Clinton and Trump probes, accepted Washington Nationals tickets from a CNN correspondent, and lied about it to DOJ OIG, according to report obtained by @dailycaller dailycaller.com/2019/10/07/exc…
The investigation was thorough.

OIG investigators scoured Kortan's phones, email, and financial records.

They visited Nationals Ballpark on Oct. 4, 2017 to meet with head of security and ticket operations to assess the quality of the tickets.
Kortan told OIG that the reporter was one of his "top five" media contacts, but denied that there was a personal relationship or friendship.

He said he corresponded w/ the reporter nearly daily to discuss news of the day.
OIG said that the reporter was a "prohibited source" of gifts for Kortan, given reporter's job covering FBI.

Kortan displayed a "lack of candor" during interviews about the tickets. DOJ showed no prosecutorial interest, and Kortan retired on Feb. 16, 2018, amid the probe.
