Reviewed the materials released by the House Committees’ from Amb. Volker testimony and, on a close read, they are more devastating for the White House than even the reporting suggests.

Let’s walk through both Volker’s testimony & then the corroborating texts...
First: who is Volker? He’s the former US Rep for Ukraine Negotiations & he resigned a week ago after news of the July 25 call btw Trump & Zelenskyy broke.

These are his words—and he immediately rebukes the whole Deep State nonsense right out of the gate. No “spies” or “treason”.
He then frames the entire affair as his dogged effort to “fix a problem as best he could.” He also goes out of his way to highlight that *he* was focused on US national security interests. It’s almost like he thinks the evidence might lead us to question that fact.

.@JRubinBlogger was more or less readable at one time, but became a miserable whiny hag after Trump’s election—I gave up on her in 2016, and haven’t read a thing she’s written in three years.

Even if it is true, as İbrahim Kalın suggests, that the Boeing 747 was a gift with no cost, a few questions remain:

1) What is the quid pro quo?
2) Who will pay maintenance and how much?
3) If we're getting gifts, why another plane and not something that might help the economy?
I am reminded of a story that used to go round when we were philosophy undergraduates. A student was asked in an end of year exam, "Can pure altruism exist?"

He simply wrote, "No", walked out and, legend goes, got top marks.

Just on the operating costs, it is telling that most airline carriers are moving away from 747s because the economics of running the jet make no sense. Fuel costs are incredibly high for one and that is on top of upkeep, storage etc. See siteresources.worldbank.org/EXTAIRTRANSPOR… for a sense.
