The best time to examine your breasts is a few days after your period, that way your breasts are not swollen or tender.

Also, examine with a soapy hand in the shower, that your hand glides smoothly over the surface

What are you looking for?

Any change in the size or shape of your breast

Any change in the look or feel of your skin over your breast, especially if it looks like the back of an orange

Any lump, or bumpy area in one breast that is different from the same area on the other side

Any bleeding from your nipple

Any discharge from your nipple that is not milky

If your nipple being pulled inwards

any new pain that does not go away

Rash around one or both nipple that is not usually there.
