Starting 2012, the US goes after a fugitive killer of US citizens who publicly admits she did it. On TV and social media, she happily boasts of whom she killed. (Children mainly.) An @FBI team and prosecutors from @TheJusticeDept builds the case. Federal charges are unveiled.
She's never been in hiding. Everyone who needs to know where she lives, knows. But there's a problem. In the country where she lives, she's a national hero *because* of who she killed. They give her a TV show so she can boast globally and get others to do what she did.
Their country has a treaty with the US for handing over fugitives. Every time the US asks for the fugitives to be handed over, its king says "of course" and does. But not this time. 3 days ago, a group of senior US Congress leaders flew to his palace. They sat with the king.
They praised his "wisdom". Called him dear friend. But didn't mention the fugitive killer living nearby. Or the reward on her head. Or how he blocks @TheJusticeDept from putting her on trial for her crimes.
Welcome to a real-life nightmare.
Ours.
