I wonder if @RMTunion @ASLEFunion @Manuel_TSSA are aware what happened at Stafford last night. Over a 1000 people told to leave multiple trains by @VirginTrains at 9pm and advised ‘no onward transport will be provided’. Major incident at station with staff unable to cope /1
The police had to be called. Elderly in wheelchairs outside were cold and vulnerable. Small babies and parents no idea what to do. All hotel rooms booked up. Some coaches arrived and drivers didn’t know what was happening nor where to go. There were no contingency plans /2
There should be plans for a major incident like this but clearly there isn’t.
It was a v dangerous situation and the distress and anxiety was palpable.

Staff advised ‘get a taxi and we’ll refund’ but many didn’t have £200 spare. Where is senior accountability for this? Will there be an inquiry to make sure it doesn’t happen again? There should be & I hope the unions push @VirginTrains and @nationalrailenq for one & we hear back
