Right-wing terrorism has been a staple of American society throughout history. The country was born from it. When carried out by militias, mobs, and "lone wolves" among the masses, it mimics the state terror that has targeted slaves and descendants of slaves, women, immigrants,
workers, and anyone who has dared to defy the guiding elements of Americanism since the country's inception: capitalism/imperialism, white supremacy, and patriarchy.
The state not only sets this tone by operating mass-murdering campaigns against poor, Black, and Brown peoples..

both here and abroad, but also by working directly in tandem with right-wing terrorists organizing from below (ie. police and the KKK, bosses and pinkertons, white-supremacist repression against liberation movements.)
We can't stress enough how this terroristic violence is *built in* USAmerican society. If we were to vote out Trump and every Republican from office, it would still be there. Because Democrats also enable it through their dedication to the same guiding elements of Americanism.
And, most importantly, because this terror lives in the hearts and minds of tens of millions of Americans throughout the country - people who have been fed a false sense of superiority and thus feel justified in using violence to protect their relative privileges.
When combined with jingoistic conditioning, capitalist miseducation, bigoted and racist rhetoric emanating from the airwaves, and corporate "news" that is geared toward tapping ignorant emotion and irrational fears for ratings, it becomes more and more weaponized everyday.
As these relative privileges continue to erode, this violence will only become more pronounced. The fascist tide is already upon us. There is no avoiding it because it is a part of us, embedded in our foundation & representing the guiding elements of our society.
We must continue to build movements with this understanding, so we can be both (1) defense-oriented in protecting ourselves and our marginalized communities, and (2) offense-oriented in our collective and relentless pursuit of liberation.
