Border apprehensions used to be overwhelmingly Mexican citizens. Now it's overwhelmingly non-Mexicans.

And while there's still a significant # of single individuals coming over the border, families are now the majority.
I also bet that if we looked at the numbers, we'd see a huge increase in the # of border-crossers who willingly turn themselves in to the Border Patrol instead of trying to sneak into the country.
And finally, border apprehensions have now fallen back to the level of 2018/2016, at least til next year.
So the basic border story of 2019 is:
1. A bunch of Central American families tried to flee through Mexico and request asylum
2. We treated them generally badly and redirected most of them to Mexico and Guatemala
3. They stopped trying to come, and least til next year.
