1/ There's a possibly apocryphal story about the king of Saudi Arabia been given an airplane as a gift in the 1930s.

As he is taken up for the flight he is asked, ""Your majesty, don't you find this amazing?"
2/ "Isn't this a miracle? Did you ever imagine flying like an eagle?"

The king looks around as the plane flies around the desert, shrugs and says, "It is not supposed to do this?"

That story was on my mind today as I tempered my expectations for this evening.
3/ Republicans are supposed to win Kentucky. They're supposed to win in Mississippi. Hell, they're supposed to win all over Virginia except for NoVa.

If a candidate who did everything last night but wax Trump's balls can't win in Kentucky...

1/ If you want to point a finger at two men with absolute certainty of guilt when Trump gets re-elected by Bloomberg and Tom Steyer.

I can't explain to you even a tenth of their resources would do to alter the battlefield in this campaign.
2/ If they really cared about defeating Trump both of those men would be up on the fucking air right now with a massive tv and digital campaign nuking the living shit out of him in the 15 swing States.

But no. They have to jerk themselves off in public.
3/ In my new book Running Against the Devil I talked about the danger of third party and vanity candidates in an equation where the forces arrayed against Trump cannot afford to lose a single vote.

The groups these men fund on the outside currently will be put to their service.

1/ Friend of long standing asked me yesterday if I ever get tired battering up against Trump and his minions...if I miss my old life in the GOP apparatus...how I'm going to repair my business after Trump.

He was a former good guy Bush Republican who went deep into MAGA world.
2/ He was up front from the start about why he did it; business imperatives. In mid 2018 he was starting to believe in Trumpism.

Excused the 2018 wipeout by pointing to US Senate and Gov results.
3/ He hates what he sees coming with either a Trump win in 2020 or Trump loss in 2020, but still feels the need to keep his business alive.

I told him but yes, the financial sacrifices have sucked and sucked hard, but I sleep great at night.

1/ I want you to imagine the reaction of Republicans everywhere if Eric Holder held secret meetings with media CEOs.

I'll tell you what it would be just to save you some time; there would be a damn gibbet erected on the White House lawn.
2/ There would be calls for his immediate removal from office. There would be baroque conspiracy theories ascribing a gigantic plot of liberal subversion against the press and inappropriate pressure brought to bear on media outlets.
3/ Every single conservative media outlet would spend 24 hours a day losing their fucking minds.

Now let me tell you why this is so much worse.

Glad to see some finally pay attention to misogyny in #Saudi Arabia - I call it gender apartheid. RIP Jamal Khashoggi. It should not be lost on us that it took the murder of a man for some to finally pay attention to women.

It is not lost on me that whenever I post about women raped, abused, tortured, threatened with jail for journalism, be they in the US, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Switzerland, Egypt, Philippines, I am told:
- the women are lying
- the women want attention
- the women are ugly
- I am ugly
All fucking day, the same thing just from different locations. All demanding the women & by extension I “prove” that the boy king of Saudi Arabia tortured feminists,the ruler of Dubai abducted & imprisoned his princess daughter, the thug president of Philippines bullies a journo
Sometimes it’s obvious they’re trolls, other times they are shamefully real people NOT being paid to regurgitate misogynist shit, but ALL times they are dipping into a deep well of patriarchy that demands women “prove” the very patriarchy that patriarchy insists doesn’t exist.

#Saudi actors who ordered #Khashoggi's death were aware he wanted his divorce paper, but hadn't anticipated his fiancee's call to Aktay which had some swift consequences. Turkish authorities searched one of the planes leaving with part of the murder team, but found nothing. /1

Had Hatice Cengiz not been there to call Aktay, the Turks wouldn't have suspected as soon as they did, that #Khashoggi had been killed. The info. about that clandestine AV feed was leaked over the week as the Saudis were swift to deny & slow to cooperate with the investigation./3
