While I am averse to use of Urdu lingo, I am not averse to English. Here are reasons:
One, Urdu serves no practical value except glorifying certain perverts hailed as greatest Urdu poets. For example Ghalib who was obsessed with young boys. +
Two, Urdu is not designed for serious information exchange. Look at education level in regions where Urdu is prominent. It is impossible to write a quality maths or science book in Urdu. If one wants child to be scientific, Urdu is a roadblock. +
Three, Urdu is not even an original language. It is just an attempt to enforce a non-serious script and Arabic/ Persian words in local lingo of Bharat. If Urdu merits status of separate language, each of 30 languages written in 13 scripts each will merit same status. +
Four, Urdu is merely reminiscent of darkest era of human civilization when lakhs used to be killed in one day. It emerged from worst brutality world has ever seen. And has only degraded the depth and fluidity of local languages. +
Five, English is also a foreign language. However English is also a language adopted across world and de-facto standard for scientific and most other forms of communication.
Six, English is also the only language today to connect with different communities across India. If I have to integrate with my brothers in Kerala or sisters in Assam, English is only viable option today. +
Seven, English is the most viable mechanism to spread our ideas and integrate with rest of the world and invite them to our beautiful roots.
Eight, However it is true that English is not the language of our roots and Adhytam. Though it borrows bulk of its vocabulary from Sanskrit, there is need to revive Sanskrit of Vedas as common thread. It is also the smartest language of world. +
Nine, Hence we must come out of Urdu grip, and work towards Vedic Sanskrit - simplified and standardized - as common thread - that reverberates with our social, spiritual, cultural roots.
Ten, not to mention our vernacular languages must also be strengthened and revived that are dying under advent of Urduisation.
With Sanskrit as common thread, we will be amazed to see how connected we are to all these vernacular languages as one close family. (I include Tamil)
Eleven, If I have to design a curriculum, I would have 3 language formula - English, Sanskrit, Local Language. And also teach all major scripts of India plus common words of each language compulsorily. It is far easier than it looks - because they are so close together.
