Whoa. Ex-Bolton deputy Charles Kupperman wants to add House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving as a defendant in his lawsuit.

Irving is the one who would carry out “inherent contempt”—the rarely-used authority to jail & fine witnesses who defy congressional subpoenas.
This is really something.

Kupperman’s new motion says he is at “imminent and substantial risk” of being held in inherent contempt.

Because the SAA enforces that, Kupperman wants to add him as a defendant.
To be clear: There are no indications that House Dems are preparing to revive their inherent contempt authority—against Kupperman or anyone else.

If Judge Leon says Kupperman can’t sue the House, though, the House could **theoretically** use inherent contempt against Kupperman.

JUST IN: House Judiciary files motion opposing a stay in the McGahn case, saying “the delay from such a stay would impair the House’s ongoing impeachment inquiry.”
MORE: “Even if evidence from McGahn is not
obtained before the House has completed its investigation, there is still an urgent need for that evidence because it could potentially be used if there is an impeachment trial in the Senate.”
This new filing from the House tonight makes clear that Dems intend to use Mueller/obstruction in some way, shape or form in the impeachment process.

“Granting a stay could thwart the committee’s ability to conduct an impeachment inquiry based on all of the relevant evidence...”

During last Thursday’s Impeachment hearings, Dr. Fiona Hill explained the rise of white nationalism, neo-Nazism and anti-Semitism in America under Donald Trump, as well as its connection to Russian interference in our domestic political affairs.

Trump and his close supporters (more on that below) are currently pushing an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory about George Soros, a billionaire who has long been a favorite bogeyman on the right due to his support for progressive causes at home and political reforms abroad.
In her testimony, Dr. Hill stated, “This is the longest-running anti-Semitic trope that we have in history, and a trope against Mr. Soros was also created for political purposes, and this is the new Protocols of The Elders of Zion.”

Schiff is walking through the facts around Giuliani, Lutsenko, and the corruption that led to a campaign to have Yovanovitch recalled. Schiff today is linking the President to every fact. (Giuliani acted for his client, the President, etc.)

So, I ran across a retweet of the below tweet and it immediately raised flags. Puffing up a witness has a reason, so decided to go look for the documentation behind it, since it had a direct quote. Didn't take long - few minutes and NPR coughed it up (will link at the end)./1
About puffing someone up - the reason is to try to give the person credibility, their views more weight than they should be given, and to set them above someone they are in disagreement with. In this case, also to elicit support due to his medal./2
In the case of the tweet, it is immediately followed by the statement "speaking out against the command-in-chief." (you're suppose to gasp here I think)

Then "the reason" is given - people kept telling him he needed to speak up (be sure to ignore other possible reasons)./3
