So legal immigrants on student visas applied to a school listed on the DHS website as legitimate later find out the school was fake and because they aren't here as students they get arrested and deported??
so it seems that the missing context is that these were being sold as ways to get passed immigration laws

the students knew it was not a real college is what ICE is arguing
Still tho

These people were legal immigrants trying to keep legal status and paid hard cash for a school DHS said was legit

how does that make sense?

This is already irritating.
Now Cooper wants Butts to *voluntarily* be sworn in. Now everyone is talking about how points of order work. And Michael Cooper doesn't seem to understand how this works. And now I'm 46 years old.
It's early, but Butts' testimony is what I was hoping it would be: clear, direct, and detailed. Of course, now this whole thing is going to get even more complicated. But it was always going to get more complicated. It has to before the public can make up its mind.

It's time for you all to meet someone. This is my brother, Cory. He's a home run hitting baseball player, a swimmer, works two jobs, and known in our hometown as "the Mayor" because he knows EVERYONE.

Cory also has undiagnosed special needs.
I bring this up because we need to have a pretty serious conversation about the use of the R word. In today's comedic culture, with irony heavily running through just about everyone's veins, there seems to be this notion of "i don't give a fuck" reigning supreme.
I love irony, I love comedy, and I love testing the line. I don't love, however, the use of outdated derogatory terms (I'll explain shortly). When making jokes or posts or memes or videos, it can be very easy to detach yourself from your subject, your words, or your audience.

David Ignatius: "I got an earful in Brussels last week from people saying "We don't like the way this is going." He also said he heard prominent Europeans say they needed to start planning on developing the capability to defend themselves.
The context in which he related these messages from Europe was the Trump administration upsetting the apple cart wrt trade and national defense. The quote about Europeans being forced to take measures to protect themselves was presented as a negative. I see it as a positive.
Of course we will never leave our allies' side - we'll honor our treaties and do what we always have done if one of our allies is threatened. They know that. But letting them know that they shouldn't use our commitment as an excuse to scrimp on national defense spending is good.
