Forget the folks who are angry about Gallagher specifically or the MAGAs who think anyone in uniform who doesn't wear a red hat are deep state Never-Trumpers, there's 65 million people who voted Dem who increasingly (rightly or wrongly) see DoD as an extension of the GOP
The damage being done here (and on other items, like the border support mission) is going to take a lot longer than we think to unwind
And ofc it risks become a self-perpetuating cycle as these issues cause recruitment from blue areas to continue to drop off, which in turn shifts the political party make-up of DoD, which then leads to more incidents like this, which further harms recruitment...
