3 Tory mayors have been convicted for child sex offences inside of a year!

Their names:

❌ Simon Thornton, Tory mayor of Godalming
2018

❌ David Boswell, Tory mayor of Pembroke
2018

❌ David Jackson, Tory deputy mayor of Horley
2018

Brief details about each case to follow:

Simon Thornton groomed a 13-year-old girl, raped her for 3 years, then went on to become Tory mayor of Godalming like it was nothing. We're expected to accept nothing is amiss when a man like this passes party candidate vetting procedures without a blip:

David Boswell was Tory mayor of Pembroke until historical child sex allegations led to him being jailed for 18 years. Boswell resigned as mayor after being arrested, but stayed on as a councillor and expected to be paid, right up until he was sentenced.

David Jackson was also arrested for historical child sex offences, and while he was on bail and under investigation (and 'suspended' from the party) his fellow Tories on Horley council voted him in as Deputy Mayor. Yes, really.

He was later convicted.

In this interview conducted before he became PM, Boris Johnson uses deeply insensitive language to describe police investigations into historical child sex offences as 'money #spaffedupthewall' and clearly struggles to understand how they serve society:

Since these events, the Tory party have shown no sign of regret or alarm, they have announced NO changes to their vetting procedures & safeguarding protocols and they will not even say if these men have been expelled from the party since their convictions:

Further, no Chairman will say if the recently-introduced 'Code of Conduct' covers child rape (likely something to do with the fact that before 2014 there was NO Code of Conduct, something Tories like to avoid admitting even when child rape isn't involved):

Tory MPs are hard to reach at most times, but during an election they make a few rare appearances and may even be inclined to talk to you, so NOW is the time to raise this issue with the Tory MP(s) of your choice, *while being super-nice about it* & *exceedingly polite*. Please.

The main question to ask is:

Given the recent conviction of two Tory mayors & a deputy for child sex offences, do you support a safeguarding inquiry into how your party screens candidates and responds to allegations against members? #GE2019 #safeguarding
