Important update on #HarryDunn #Justice4Harry

Harry's parents, Charlotte and Tim, have today issued a Judicial Review claim against the Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab.

@DoughtyStreet @MarksLarks The family's solicitors received a letter from Dominic Raab's solicitors yesterday confirming Foreign Office will attempt to obtain the full costs of the case from Harry's parents. This could expose the family to a liability of tens of thousands of pounds.

The state of this. No shame. Remembering two wonderful young campaigners lost too soon should be the focus not cheap social media point scoring
And the attacks on lawyers coming from the PM himself and the right wing commentators are crass and ignorant, not to mention insensitive given the two victims were attending a prison education conference which had deep connections with the legal community
Jack Merritt, one of the victims, was a human rights campaigner. He followed me on twitter and retweeted me recently. That his death is being used as an opportunity to bash and, ridiculously to blame, human rights lawyers is beyond crass

The fact that it is just 48 hours since two members of the public were brutally slain and the politicians are falling over themselves to blame each other or jump on their particular hobby horses. Honestly, I get it's 11 days before the election but I find it pretty gross
I know that these are hugely important issues, but I just keep thinking of @JackmerrittJack and his amazing work, and the public heroes who stopped more dying, and I want this conversation to be about them only, not about our self-interested politicians
@JackmerrittJack It should be self-evident to everyone that some half-baked knee-jerk reaction - especially if it's a major policy shift - isn't going to solve the problem of terrorism. Politicians should show some humility in the face of events

Corbyn's interview demonstrates first hand the cause of the deep unease within the Jewish community which caused the Chief Rabbi's unprecedented intervention.

Simply, the Jewish community don't trust the Labour leadership. Why would they trust a Labour government?
For those who haven't been following this issue as closely as I have, this is something I have been talking about since at least March last year when I wrote this thread about what Corbyn *needed* to do to restore trust. He did none of it.

Statement issued today on behalf of Harry Dunn’s parents:
1/ “#HarryDunn’s parents are livid at the Foreign Secretary’s comments on Sky News this morning. They are not engaged in some frivolous vexatious litigation frolic of their own against the FCO. Quite the opposite.
2/ They are British Citizens who have had their entitlement to justice robbed from them by the US Government under the watch of Mr Raab and the FCO. Mr Raab knows perfectly well that Mrs Sacoolas never had diplomatic immunity.
3/ He has lied to the parents before and he is now lying to the nation. The parents are entitled to answers and the truth. If he is so concerned about taxpayers’ money in the litigation then he would come and talk to us to find a resolution rather than risking having the...

Yesterday, a woman with no prior criminal history is accused of taking $19 worth of merchandise from a store. She is arrested instead of given a citation at the scene. She has a $100 bond set. 1/4
Today, she is appointed a lawyer with @DefendShelbyCo The State of Tennessee agrees to dismiss her case in exchange for a $50 "donation" to charity. Being locked up, she doesn't have $50 on her. 2/4
Her attorney calls @JustCity901 and requests the help of the Memphis Community Bail Fund, which posts the $100 cash bond. The woman will be released today, likely come back to court in July with $50, and have her case dismissed and expunged from her record. 3/4
