I want to offer a quick thread on the common argument you hear from Trump defenders online, that Trump supporters "already know about Trump" and that his scandals are already "baked in" and thus each new Trump outrage is ultimately irrelevant. 1/
I'd say this is true for the Extremely Online MAGA supporter. They follow everything, they know everything, and they just don't care. But if you live in Trump country, you know this is decidedly NOT true for the rank and file voter. There is a vast information gap. Vast. /2
A moderately politically-engaged Trump supporter is well-acquainted with Democratic outrages and well-acquainted with media scandals. They're pretty well-acquainted with Trump defenses. Outside of that? The knowledge gap grows. They see Trump's problems as a matter of "style." /3

While I’m on this, I’ll give just one example.

When Mayor Pete took office in South Bend, he inherited a local community with a large disparity of wealth.

In some parts of town, homes had fallen into disrepair and blight.

1/
Mayor Pete’s initial solution was to focus on aggressively targeting the owners of abandoned, disrepaired and eyesore properties.

He called it his “1,000 Houses in 1,000 Days” plan.

Under it, South Bend forced the sale or demolition of 1,000 properties.

2/
On paper, blighted properties *are* the problem. They invite crime, reduce property values, and reduce investment by outside businesses. They hold a community back.

In reality, they are less THE problem than a symptom. And when you treat a symptom, you cure only the symptom.

1) Just watched CNN from noon to 5 pm and also 7 pm to 8 pm and for second day in a row there was no coverage of Bernie at all. They teased a segment at the very beginning of inside politics and then never covered it. Meanwhile we had a least 4 separate segments on Warren,
2) at least 4 segments on Mitt Romney’s secret Twitter account and most absurdly of all, 2 separate segments on Amy Klobuchar...
3) Just watched all of MSNB from 1 pm thru 11 pm and there coverage was completely different. While CNN blacked Bernie out, MSNB mostly smeared him with only a few exceptions.

Ok tweeps -- preparation for debate snark, round 2 tonight.

Let's begin by setting expectations.
Biden -- will probably end up tonight's Beto, unless everyone remembers 2016 and stops giving Bernie a free ride. JB just needs to keep his sh*t together. He has done this a million times.

As my dad says -- he just needs to not set himself on fire.
Bernie -- hopefully someone will finally ask him about how he was supported by Kremlin information operations and what that means exactly.

Also, he called the border detention camps "accommodations"

The dad hot-take: he's just left-trump.
