1) Just watched CNN from noon to 5 pm and also 7 pm to 8 pm and for second day in a row there was no coverage of Bernie at all. They teased a segment at the very beginning of inside politics and then never covered it. Meanwhile we had a least 4 separate segments on Warren,
2) at least 4 segments on Mitt Romney’s secret Twitter account and most absurdly of all, 2 separate segments on Amy Klobuchar...
3) Just watched all of MSNB from 1 pm thru 11 pm and there coverage was completely different. While CNN blacked Bernie out, MSNB mostly smeared him with only a few exceptions.
4) the 3 pm hour had Ali Velshi on vacation and had the worst segment of the day. I often disparage MSNBC viewers, but just for the record, its clear that no one thinks worse about msnbc viewers than MSNBC itself and the segment here was a classic example.
5) MSNBC keeps doing this thing wheee they act like every poll is from the same pollster. So anytime you see a new poll, it means there’s been a change from the previous poll in that state or nationally. And as I mentioned earlier today, and actually have mentioned a few times,
6) there’s a handful of 4 or 5 pollsters who absolutely hate Bernie. No matter what state they poll or if it’s national, they always have him greatly underperforming. The ones I think I mentioned in the past were Quinnipiac, Monmouth with one exception that they apologized for,
7) IBD, and Suffolk. So Suffolk puts out a new Iowa poll today and as I’ve mentioned elsewhere, they did a survey with a small sample size where they greatly overpolled old people as they always do and surprise, surprise, when you over poll old people and under poll Bernie, he
8) does much worse. Here’s a link to the entire thread
9) anyway so msnbc thinking that viewers are complete morons, wants people to think that Bernie has dropped from 21% to 9% in just a bit over a week and that it’s a 3 way race with Warren, Biden, and mayor Pete. They even have on their senior political editor @@mmurraypolitics
@mmurraypolitics 10) they do things like show that Bernie hasn’t actually dropped at all in their info graphic onscreen yet we get mark Murray indirectly implying that Bernie is at about this percentage point in most Iowa polls as if there wasn’t just a poll last week that had him in a 3 way tie
@mmurraypolitics 11) They obviously don’t mention the poll misweighting, but the fact Mark Murray says that it’s a 3 person race just because of this poll says it all. Also in the clip below they smear Bernie as not caring about taking unpopular positions and In doing so say
@mmurraypolitics 12) that Medicare4All is a liability and extreme unpopular. Just total garbage all around. And so ham fisted that even some of their viewers have to be catching on. streamable.com/xqplk
@mmurraypolitics 13) There was another segment in the Suffolk poll during the 5 o’clock hour that did the same. And during hardball, they did the same thing except Matthews was back and stupider then ever. And was literally saying things like, “I thought Bernie was doing better in Iowa, I guess
14) I was mistaken”. And later also saying Mayor Pete could win even tho he’s gay and married to a man which I’m pretty sure is usually the same thing.
15) Maddow did a weird thing where she briefly promoted Bernie’s crowd and rally while then pivoting to Klobuchar as someone who was doing well in fundraising and polling which might be the stupidest things sh‘s ever said. She then did another interview with Klobuchar.
16) there was nothing on any other show I didn’t specifically mention with one exception which was Chris Hayes. Hayes had a weird segment that was part praising Bernie, part smearing him, and part admitting that the polling in Iowa is all over the place. But what was really
17) notable was that Ryan Grim of all people explained that the polls don't really measure Bernie’s support and called both msnbc And The NY Times out while on MSNBC in an act that probably won’t get him invited back in the near future. Here’s the clip. streamable.com/z0tc0
18) there’s two things to take away imo. The first is the Ryan grim breaking the echo chamber moment which I’ll post again in a short clip below. But the second is that Chris Hayes and his guests all were honest about Iowa while saying the exact opposite of MSNBC’s senior
19) political editor Mark Murray who lied. They all said Iowa was still wide open, while Murray claimed it was a 3 way race between Warren, Biden, and Mayor Pete. In other words Murray used MSNBC’s talking points for the day while Chris Hayes and his panel didn’t.
20) I’ve taken issue with @ryangrim at times, but you got to give him some credit for going on Chris Hayes show and disagreeing with several narratives Hayes was putting forward while repeatedly calling out the media. Here’s two shorter Twitter friendly clips highlighting it.
23) Hayes tries to equate Bernie’s health issues with Bernie’s and Grim isn’t having it and points out that Clintons health issues came after the GOP spent millions of dollars saying she was hiding diseases and about to die. He also tries to imply Bernie hasn’t been running on
24) the idea of a multi-racial campaign, which once again Ryan Grim rejected, and on 2 separate times he called out the media bias and even mentioned the world ”blackout”
25) And look at what I just found. The only tweet from the supposed senior political editor of MSNBC who was the guy smearing Bernie during the 3 pm hour. Literally his only comment about the poll on twitter.
26) Amazing how these people can’t be professional enough to not give away their disdain for Bernie online while they simultaneously pretend to be neutral on the air so that they can smear him
