Today we have published a full-page ad in the Jewish Chronicle calling on our fellow British Jews to find #SafetyThroughSolidarity and vote the Conservatives out of government next month.
Our community has been deeply hurt by antisemitism on the left, but we must not lose sight of how dangerous it is that the Conservatives are appealing to the far-right.

Every minority in Britain is threatened by this, and we must come together to defeat them.

The Chief Rabbi is absolutely right when he says the soul of our nation is at stake. Boris Johnson is appealing to the far-right in his bid to secure power, and we must do everything in our power to stop him.
The reality is that the only alternative to a Labour victory next month is a Conservative one. We understand why so many in our community feel unable to vote for the Labour party, however we must not make the mistake of thinking the Conservatives are a safer alternative.
This is a party which is courting nationalist votes by demonising and threatening minorities, and undermining the rule of law. The idea that this would be a safe environment for Jews is incredibly dangerous.

We are Jews Against Boris and this is why we are organising our community this election:
1) Boris Johnson is embracing nationalism and normalising the far-right in his efforts to keep hold of power. This is a crisis which threatens all of us, and which we must do everything in our power to stop.
2) Our safety can only come about through solidarity. We will only defeat antisemitism when we work hand-in-hand to defeat Islamophobia, xenophobia and all other racism at the same time.

This is the most accurate headline about Trump's tweet.

It is absolutely a deportation threat. Clearly political, red meat to his base, on the eve of his 2020 re-election campaign. Like most threats, it's designed to create fear. And it's working.

He will probably have a tough time meeting it, for several reasons:

1 - ICE was blindsided by the tweet. Yet another example of dysfunction.

2 - ICE doesn't have the resources to deport millions. (Being a thorn in his side is one of my life's great satisfactions.)
3 - It's not even clear who he's targeting - those with final orders of deportation, those with final expedited orders, or just anyone without status.

Now that he's said it, I suppose ICE has to do what it can to make it a reality. Or at least an illusion of reality.
