A must read: "The loss of black space signals a physical depreciation of safety for many Detroiters. Emotionally, it feels as though the tide is rolling in. We've seen in other cities how that tide often washes away the things that give a city personality."bit.ly/2rKQGHJ
Read this graf and then read it again and one more time for good measure.
“To preserve black space, we must first acknowledge its existence and understand its value. This is not so hard.”
@Eric_S_Thomas' column eloquently explains Detroit is a "deeply, spiritually Black city." I know many Detroiters, family included, who are very reluctant to go downtown and/or are weary of its transformation. They've seen how it can play out in other cities across the country.
Also, can we talk about how Black this column is? He went from quoting Maze & Frankie Beverly to Tee Grizzley. That’s about as Detroit as you can get. 🙌🏾
