THREAD: So I am fairly confident that Carter Page was NOT ever under a previous FISA warrant, news reports notwithstanding. At least, the October 2016 FISA Application states that there was no previous warrant. Keep reading for my reasoning.
First, if you have not seen my previous thread on the structure of a FISA Application, read this first and then come back:
So subsection (8) requires a statement describing any previous applications “involving any of the persons, facilities, or places specified in the application.” 
Since the subsections of the statute match up with the paragraph numbers of the application, you can determine that paragraph 8 is a single line at the bottom of p. 42. There’s no way that’s enough to describe a previous FISA on Carter Page. Prob “There has been no previous app.”
Here is paragraph 8 of the first renewal. It’s an entire paragraph. That would be describing the original October 2016 Application.
Therefore, unless the FBI lied to the court about no previous FISA on Page (which I doubt), the October 2016 FISA warrant on Carter Page was the first on Page. QED
