In the end, there would be no damning videos, no funds pouring into a new foundation. Mr. Boies and Mr. Pottinger would go from toasting Kessler as their “whistle-blower” and “informant” to torching him as a “fraudster” and a “spy.”
As a process story it was eerily similar to Andy McCarthy's Ball of Collusion, which BTW is worth the read.

You can't roll the world back to pre-globalization days but for it to be sustainable things have to be componentized to safeguard protected memory spaces. We need standard interfaces not 'open borders'.
The intellectual challenge is how to make it safe for people to deal with strangers in connected world. The problem can be solved but it can't be solved by people who don't think it's a potential problem.

What made 2016 so traumatic was it was perfect until the final minutes when there was a sudden plot twist.
It wasn't supposed to end like it did. To this day there must be a quality of unreality about it for those who stretched out their hands to triumph that night.

We couldn’t. We think he is likely a conman and that his videos are fake. We don't know his motivations.
