You can't roll the world back to pre-globalization days but for it to be sustainable things have to be componentized to safeguard protected memory spaces. We need standard interfaces not 'open borders'.
The intellectual challenge is how to make it safe for people to deal with strangers in connected world. The problem can be solved but it can't be solved by people who don't think it's a potential problem.

Watching Boeing's travails it is instructive to recall the Deming Institute case study Gunfire at Sea, the tale of how Percy Scott and William Sims revolutionized fire control at the dawn of the 20th century despite the best efforts of the RN and USN to thwart them.
A more modern example would be the invention of the modern UAV by the Airforce's Big Safari group in the late 1990s despite the bureaucracy's attempt to have them classified as ground launched cruise missiles prohibited under arms control.
Innovation requires organizational entrepreneurship as much as technical invention. Scott, Sims and Big Safari were regarded as crazy troublemakers. Fortunately for us they reveled in it.

that give meaning and direction to all other things. References like the plumb line and the compass in some Masonic traditions help give order and direction, and other things like some of the references to rivers give reference and order. In fact, you can see a dizzying amount
of references to detailed measurements, and this sacred degree, or that sacred shape... and the list goes on and on.

The point though is that we do use reference points to orient us. Everyone seems to know that, and this is why we have such a big fight to provide reference

One of the things we look for in Founders we invest in is a deep understanding of networks & network effects (nfx). In the internet age, this is such an advantage that we made it a core part of our investing thesis. It's why we're called NFX @nfxguild.
Companies with network effects are the most highly valued because they produce increasing returns. But it's not easy to get network effects going. Today I want to share 19 of the top resources for understanding & building networks and defensibility.

Wanna know why #Sonic looks so terrible in the Hollywood adaptation? It's because people in positions of power & influence genuinely think the new look is a better, more globally appealing design than the classic Sonic that we know and love. This is a thread on why that's dumb✌️
Throughout my career in videogames and animation in general, I often hear this hoary old chestnut:

"Only Western style art is mass market. Anime and everything else is niche"

It's this out of touch attitude that results in the butchering of something as iconic as Sonic.
Certain forces behind the film (and it's most likely from up top, not from the individual artists--don't go blaming them so fast!) are so arrogant that they believe their arbitrary meddling will result in improvements to classic time tested franchises.
