Republicans want to enforce a Disney-to-Hallmark, Father Knows Best fantasy world where their rigid interpretations of the Bible are applied in the interests of patriarchal, white supremacy where they hold the wealth and the masses are their servants or enemies.
They will say and do anything to achieve that end, having convinced themselves or never wavered from a family belief that they are in the right and the end justifies the means.

There's nothing to analyze or quarterback in terms of will they do the right thing or when, because they won't. They will lie, cheat, subvert democratic institutions, and whatever else they need to do in order to win and hold power by 2020.
