The most corrosive thing in all of this is that if you do your fucking job on this topic you get called names, and worse...

You get complained about and investigated.

And if your employer doesn't hold its nerve, or your employment situation is vulnerable enough, you lose your job
And on the other hand, the pressure for people *not* do their job is strong.

If you are a senior decision maker at a human rights organisation your job is to make sure it has thought through the human rights implications of its advocacy positions

If you are running the UK 's leading feminist charity, and your organisation says that "feminists should be able to think and talk about gender, sex, and identity without those conversations being shut down" then its your job to make that possible
If you are running the statutory agency with responsibility for the promoting equality law your job is to help people understand how the law protects everyone, not promote the agenda of particular lobby groups equalityhumanrights.com/en/our-work/ne…
If you are running the nation's leading child protection charity your job is to put child safeguarding first and foremost in everything you do, not declare "allyship" with any particular adult community nspcc.org.uk/what-we-do/new…
If you are in charge of a university your job is to make that a place where ideas can be debated and tested without fear or censure
If you are in charge of a police force then your job is to make sure it enforces the law, not "Stonewall's law"

These institutions are worth fighting for because they are critical for a fair, just, prosperous society

People must not be afraid to do their job

If you thought this was 'just' about toilets or 'just' about women or just about being kind you are not paying attention
