Hello again, John. Do you remember you DM'd me, reassuring me that you were dealing with the Rees-Mogg matter and that you won't be commenting on individual cases. So far, though, nothing in Rees-Mogg and lots of comments on individual cases. @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann As this was several weeks ago and we have an election coming up, it does seem like a very strange case of selectivity going on. You seem to have left out or overlooked Rees-Mogg (and other cases) from your tweets. @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann To be honest John, given that you are (as far as I know) being paid by us to be the 'Antisemitism Tsar' I'm finding it troubling that you're not interested in Johnson's history of antisemitic tropes, editing of 'Taki', Rees-Mogg's jibes, Cummings's dog-whistling of Goldman Sachs
@LordJohnMann I wonder, can you (or anyone else) tell us who has oversight of your output as 'Antisemitism Tsar'? Where is the 'quality of control'? Who are you 'accountable to'? Who is your 'line manager'? I'd very much like to drop them a line. @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann Actually, you must be surprised that your 'performance' as 'Antisemitism Tsar' isn't under scrutiny from the Press and Media. Don't you think it's odd that you're not on TV being asked about your lack of interest in Tory antisemitism? @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann Imagine the contribution to our knowledge about antisemitism you could have made, John, if you had investigated 'antisemitism in the Tory Party'. Historians of the future would have been able to refer to Lord John Mann and his forensic analyses of it. @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann Instead, historians of the future will look at your tweets alongside the evidence about Johnson's past antisemitic writings, his editorship of 'Taki', alongside Rees-Mogg and Cummings's dog-whistling and wonder why you the 'Antisemitism Tsar' was so selective. @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann You see the history of antisemitism is littered with non-Jewish philosemites who've announced how much they hate antisemitism but somehow or another trip over themselves as they end up taking sides in disputes betweenJews. Have you read Churchill doing precisely this?
@LordJohnMann You see when this is done by a non-Jew, it legitimates attacks on those sections of the Jewish community, designated as 'other'. In other words, it's really only just another form of antisemitism. I'll forward you Churchill doing just that. @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann Hello again, John. Here's Churchill talking about 'good' Jews and 'bad' Jews. It is in fact a bit of raving antisemitism from a supposed philosemite. It's to do with his selectivity.

@LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann If the government has been honest about combatting antisemitism, it would have sought out views of all Jews ie from the full range of those threatened by antisemitism - which includes e.g. Jews who are not 'engaged in the community'. Are you doing this, John? @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann You could, for example, take evidence from as wide a range as possible of Jews on how they view antisemitism, where it's come from etc. But I don't see you being interested in the full range, John across all 284,000 of us. @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann You could avoid the Ian Austin way of questioning in the House of Commons, in which the non-Jewish Austin felt entitled to be aggressive towards me for no other reason than that my written testimony warned against British 'triumphalism' in our narrative about the Holocaust.
@LordJohnMann You could just ask open-ended questions of people (rather than seeing fit, as the non-Jewish Ian Austin did to correct testimony from a Jew) and get a sense of how the whole 284,000 Jews in the UK see things. What do you think? @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann You could avoid any tension between different personalities or groups within the 284,000 by inviting us to present as individuals, representing others or simply as ourselves. Wouldn't that be an important contribution to combatting antisemitism? @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann You could also ask people if they wanted to present their testimony, in private, anonymously, or in public, as they wished. If people would prefer it to be done in situ e.g. in a Jewish Care home you could arrange that too. What do you think? @LordJohnMann
@LordJohnMann If I could be of any assistance in this, I would be glad to offer this. @LordJohnMann
