Chairman Nadler sounds strong tonight & offers 3 questions as the frame for debate: does the evidence clearly show T committed these acts, do they rise to high crimes & misdemeanors, what are the consequences for elections, natl security & country if T isn’t held accountable?
I feel like it’s a Passover Seder. We started with 3 questions & @RepJerryNadler concludes by asking, if not now, when?
Prime time Doug Collins is more reserved than the daytime version
Ironic. Collins says the question is, what has their great Committee, House Judiciary, come to. Article II speaks directly to that, asking for impeachment because Trump has categorically refused to comply with subpoenas necessary for Congress to engage in oversight.

Attorney General Barr doubles down on claim the FBI spies on Trump’s campaign. Despite findings in IG report that the investigation was properly predicate. Amazing @PeteWilliamsNBC interview.
It was unnecessary for Barr to set up “a channel” for US Atty Durham to investigate in foreign countries. DOJ’s Criminal division has a unit that does this in a well-established manner. What Barr did was unusual-asking for extra-favorable treatment & making clear who it was for.
This interview reminds me of the Mulvaney interview this morning, where, asked if he’d testify in the Senate, he said he’d do whatever Trump wants. Barr’s answers here are the same, but he has a little more finesse.

“They” are devastated? This is a crime not a civil matter involving compensation for families. The Saudi illegally acquired a gun & high capacity magazines, while another filmed the shooting. Shooter left an online “will.”
My error. New reporting via @Tom_Winter says he purchased the gun legally via a loophole that lets aliens (who can’t legally possess) purchase if they have a hunting license. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/s…
But purchasing a gun legally in no way minimizes the significance of the crime, indicia of possible terrorism continues to emerge. This is not a simple matter of compensating victims as Trump signaled.

Prof Turley starts by saying this impeachment hearing is similar to Clinton’s. Of course it’s not. Clinton didn’t use the power of the presidency to try to extract valuable help for his re-election campaign from a foreign leader & endangering our national security to do so.
Turley should also review, at a minimum, the bribery and campaign finance crime laws if he thinks there isn’t evidence Trump has committed crimes. Crimes aren’t necessary for impeachment, but they are apparent here.
It’s notable the Turley distances himself from Trump, didn’t vote for him, doesn’t support him he says. He’s the GOP witness. The fact that they felt the need to do this is very telling about the weakness of their defense of the President.

Chairman Nadler opens today’s #ImpeachmentHearing and immediately he is interrupted by a guy shouting who is escorted out. Now Nadler says in his statement that even if the president doesn’t honor his oath of office “I honor mine.” “Charismatic demagogues” is also mentioned.
“President Trump put himself before country.” Nadler is coming out strong, hitting this point several times, noting the whistleblower’s complaint has been substantiated over and over by multiple officials. Nadler looks like he is trying to sway independent voters.
About that protestor planted in the gallery who was removed. He was accusing Nadler of treason. “We voted for Donald Trump and they’re trying to remove him because they don’t like him!”he yelled.
