I've talked about how each side has strategies and plans. I've also likened politics to chess often.

However, I would bet good money that nowhere in Queen Nancy's strategy did she ever imagine that she would have her members switching parties during impeachment.
She might have envisioned some GOPers voting for Impeachment, she might have thought that a few of her "moderates" would vote no on impeachment for political reasons but, I highly doubt, she ever thought one of her Dems would switch and become a republican.
This is why you shouldn't becone attached to plans. They are only good until the first "shot is fired". They should be used as a high level "road map" not a GPS that must follow every turn. You have to be able to adapt to changing circumstances and the other players moves.
Queen Nancy being a 3rd rate politician hasn't adapted and instead has followed her plan since day one. By doing so she has led her party into a classic Catch-22 while allowing Pres. Trump to have free movement to attack from several directions.
Now Queen Nancy has a defection to deal with because it turns out some people don't like being in a catch-22 and want out. Will others defect? I don't know, depends in their circumstances in their districts but the possibility is now there.
I doubt Queen Nancy will adapt to this new threat. She will keep following her plan even as it leads her party into a spectacular defeat.
