OK y'all there is A LOT going on right now on the shutdown crisis and the next 48 hours in the Senate are CRUCIAL. I'm going to try and run through it all and talk about where your voice is needed.
McConnell and Schumer have negotiated an agreement to bring TWO bills to the Senate floor on Thursday. Either bill needs sixty votes to pass.
The first bill is a Trump immigration bill. This is what he announced on Saturday. It's the wall, radical shifts to asylum policy, more money for cages and enforcement.

They're pretending this is a compromise. IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A COMPROMISE. The Senate must reject it.

Former Congressional staffer here. I sometimes hear from people who say they don't see the point of calling their Senators anymore - either because they're reliable Democrats or they're consistently Trump-appeasing Republicans. Here's why that's wrong.
First, let's talk about "good" Democrats. Just because a Dem is taking the right position today on the shutdown doesn't mean they *feel* like they're on strong ground. You call because they might be nervous. You call because they rarely hear from people who are happy with them.
Even when Dems are unwavering on an issue - and Dems are holding up really well on the shutdown right now - they're still tracking the ratio of pro/anti-calls on that issue. They use that as a metric of whether they're winning the public opinion fight.

I’m at the hearing today for Tinslee Lewis, a baby ok life support at @CookChildrens.
The family & hospital have been in a legal battle over her care -physicians wants to end her treatment, saying it is futile and causing suffering. Her family disagrees. amp.star-telegram.com/news/local/for…

11,000 ppl voted early at sites at colleges & universities in Texas's Tarrant County in 2018. Now state/county officials plan to not have those campus sites anymore in 2020.
