🔥thing I learned from @Conaw earlier - you can right-click in graph overview, hide log days, and switch to a Cose view. This sort of visualization is super associative for me, and IMO makes Roam *vastly* superior to WorkFlowy for me. Pls add “drag and drop to add connection”

I wish I could have this view for my twitter threads

I may actually end up... manually copying tweets into roam... we'll see

One of the reasons I‘ve always been drawn to study fiction, marketing and philosophy is the following, non-judgemental observation:

People care more about fictional characters than real people.

It’s because fictional stories are told more skillfully, and framed better
You can get upset about this, or you can learn the art of framing and presentation. It might be the single most powerful life skill that my elders seemed to have the least conscious appreciation for
Elders worry, I think, that youths seem to prefer style over substance. And I think youths don’t really see a distinction early on, so it’s rational for them to invest heavily in style since it pays off massively in the short run. It’s all so clear to me

Y'all ever just read something then realize you daydreamed the whole time and don't remember a single thing. So then you're out of motivation to read it again so you just refuse?
I used to be that way in Math, but for some reason this year it has swapped places with English. Like, I'm good at Math, but suck at English.
Also, the worst class I'm doing in at school rn is Computer Science with programming and stuff. Kinda wack how this stuff used to be a breeze for me. I was able to focus on Computer stuff no matter what. Now, I'm doing so bad in it cause I can't focus.

@david_perell Unlike many online courses I’ve taken, this one focuses HEAVILY on the community and making friends. I thought these were the usual promises, but we have 2-3 Zoom calls per week, forum and opportunities to collaborate. This was a very pleasant surprise!
@david_perell For a long time, I have been wondering how to start pitching guest posts and this will be a very good opportunity to meet folks starting their online presence! I am already starting to make friends in the course. I like the insistence of 100% video cams on!

I've spent the last couple weeks going through hundreds of pitches from writers (literally! HUNDREDS). And I'm noticing some common mistakes that writers are making when they pitch.

So here's a thread about pitching an editor, and some stuff you should consider! 🧵✨
Before I get into it, if you're a writer and you've done something on this list, HELLO! ME TOO! I've done everything I'm about to outline here. Except nobody told me not to. So instead of going into self-deprecation mode, allow me to say, "Welcome to the club! It's not just you!"
I'm sharing this info too bc a lot of the folks who pitch me are marginalized in some way, and they weren't given this information or access to the places this kind of info is shared. (That's why I think it's so important for editors to be active and transparent on social. 🌸)

So here we are a day from finding out the results of an election that should not be happening. It will be a strange election which will make it a lot of fun.
the Brexit Party and Lib Dems will do well, Lab and the Tories will do terribly, possibly historically so.(In the Tories case, definitely historically so)
The results will be about momentum going into the next phase of Brexit. There will be enough in them for both sides of the EU argument to claim things are going in their direction regardless of if it is true or not.
